Steel holds memory. It bends under pressure, bears the mark of every force applied to it, yet remains.
Wanita Dixon
My sculpture practice begins with the material itself. The material carries industrial history, labor, and the residue of use. I work with that residue deliberately, shaping forms that hold posture and suggest movement simultaneously.
Each piece is built by hand, weld by weld. The process is slow and physical. The heat of the torch, the resistance of the metal, the moment when two pieces fuse are not incidental to the work. They are the work.
